HERMANN SIGNS FOR TOWN RECORD FEE Former Bees defender Hermann Hreidarsson is set to sign for Ipswich Town later this week in a £4 million deal. The Icelander, who made the switch from Griffin Park to Wimbledon last season in a £2.5 milliion deal, is expected to complete the formalities of the move in time to make his debut for the Premiership newcomers against Spurs on Saturday.
The deal for the 26-year-old was thrown into doubt on Monday when Dons chief executive David Barnard claimed on their official website that Town''s offer had yet to be accepted.
However, a phone call between the two clubs swiftly helped sweep aside any fears that a deal might not go-ahead.
Brentford broke their transfer record when they swooped for the big centre-back in September 1998 for a £750,000 fee.
